It was our privilege to be able to chat to Dr Karin Lourens from the Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital on the Drive Zone.
They are a dedicated wildlife ONLY veterinary hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa. Their aim is to improve the quality of treatment, survival rate and success rate of rehabilitation of small to medium sized indigenous South-African wildlife. They are the first of their kind in Gauteng and their vision is that the hospital will grow to such an extent that it will become a world class facility which will serve as a teaching hospital for veterinary students interested in treating wildlife. They treat wild animals with the goal that they will be rehabilitated and released. They do not treat domestic animals or pets. None of their patients have owners. All treatment of wildlife is free of charge.
